Why I built Skip Workout
THE PROBLEM
Knowing that you need to exercise—or even knowing how—isn’t the problem.
Physical inactivity is a major public health issue. Yet there has never been more information available about exercise, fitness, nutrition, and health.
We know a lot about what people should do.
The harder problem is getting people to start—and helping them keep going.
THE REALITY
Life gets in the way.
I’ve spent more than 15 years working in fitness. I have a Master’s in Exercise Science & Wellness and I’m a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist.
I’m also a veteran, husband, dad, and full-time professional. I understand how quickly exercise gets pushed aside when work, family, and life compete for your time.
Another workout plan isn't always the answer.
THE IDEA
Make it easier to do something.
Skip Workout isn't designed to be the perfect exercise program. If your goal is to maximize every aspect of fitness, there are more comprehensive ways to train.
That's not the point.
The best exercise plan is the one you'll actually follow. Sometimes doing less—and doing it consistently—is enough to start changing your relationship with exercise.
FOR REAL PEOPLE
Think about the people in your life.
Your mom. Your dad. Your spouse. Your friends. Your coworkers. Maybe you.
Some haven't exercised in years. Some start every January and stop by February. Some are already active but struggle with consistency. Others simply can't imagine fitting traditional workouts into their lives.
Skip Workout was built to have a low barrier to entry. You don't need to already be fit. You don't need a gym. You don't need an hour. Challenges can be modified when needed, and you start from wherever you are.
The goal is simple: help more people make movement part of their everyday lives.
THE HOPE
This is the starting point.
Maybe you use Skip Workout for a month. Maybe you follow it for a year or longer. Maybe it’s perfect for someone you know.
My hope is that somewhere along the way, you stop thinking of exercise as something that requires an hour, a gym, or the perfect plan.
You build the habit of doing something instead of nothing. Physical activity becomes a normal part of your life rather than another thing you keep meaning to start.
And eventually, maybe you don't need Skip Workout at all.
